Help!

This new blogger isn't working very well for me. I try to upload pictures and it uploads them sideways and there's no tool that allows me to turn them once they're uploaded. I've waited, hoping it would be fixed, but no such luck. So, I apologize for any sideways pictures in advance. And, if anyone has any advice on how to deal with this problem, I welcome it!!

Our last day in Nebraska.

We visited my Aunt Judy and Uncle Mark's place. I'm a huge fan of animals and their rights, so I'm not a fan of killing them for sport, but at least, in Nebraska, they use the meat, too. (And, I gotta say, deer jerkey and deer dogs are yu-mmy!)

Mark and Judy live at the house that belonged to Mark's grandparents, but he spends a lot of his time working at his mom's place (what they call the "Homestead"), so that's where we went after eating lunch.
Uncle Mark has new border collie, Ike, who's still learning how to be a cattle-dog. He has learned rather quickly, though, that he likes to ride on the 4-wheeler.

They have some peacocks on their property!

It ended up being a wonderfully cold day. Luckily, I had planned ahead and brought warm clothes for Leila, but Ryan and Becca had to borrow some from Uncle Mark.

Ike also likes to ride in the big tractor.

And so does Leila!

Uncle Mark took me and Leila on a ride. It's not quite what you'd expect. It has air conditioning and heat, radio, front and rear lights, and even a place for a GPS used specifically for farming. Leila had a great time. She didn't make a peep and just looked around during the entire ride.

While we road in the tractor, Ryan took Ike and the 4-wheeler for a ride.

They own over 1,500 acres of farmland, so next we went to take a look at some of the additions they're making to their land. Here, if you look closely, you can see 3 rows of what look like little bushes, but what are actually rows of 3 different kinds of trees that are planted in "windrows". The point of these trees are to provide shelter from the weather for the crops in the summer and for the grazing cattle in the winter. He had just finished planting over 500 trees here, and we took a picture so that we have something to compare when we go and see the trees again the next time we're up there.

Saying Goodbye
Poor Grandpa... he fell and cracked his ribs the day we arrived, so Leila never really got to spend time with him. Hopefully he'll be in better health the next time we're there, so that they can get to know each other better.
