Nebraska - Day 3

Ready for Sunday's family church service

Hanging out at my cousin, Jenn, and her family's house to see where Great-Grandma and Grandpa are going to live soon

Jenn's Garden...
Corn

Giant Sunflowers
And their seeds
Who knew sunflower seeds actually came from sunflowers!?

Grapes from their concord grapevines - they taste just like the juice!

She grew pumpkins, squash, beans, and tomatoes

Their apple tree
The apples were yuuummmy!

Their dog

Their youngest boy - Luke - is quite a climber
The last time Ryan and I were here, he was just a few days old. Look at him now!

She was happy to share with us. Look at the booty we came home with!

And, behind my back, they let Leila have a taste of a homegrown apple. She seemed to love it.

Pictures from Nebraska and More Recent News

First, we'll start with the most recent news - we have tooth bud #2 making it's way in! We found it on Monday morning, just 2 days after we found the first one. Pretty soon, Leila's cute little smile will have 2 pearly white teeth in the middle of it!

Day One of Nebraska ended with a walk into town.
Ryan fell in love with the grass up there, but it took almost the entire weekend before he could find someone who could tell him what it was - bluegrass.

Welcome to Creighton, Nebraska... population 1,233

Danielle found a bench who appeared to belong to someone named Corland.

Day 2 began with Aunt Rebecca and Leila having an impromptu photo shoot in Grandpa's chair.

We always go down and tour the local thrift store in town. It's a tradition. So we had to take Leila! We set off on a walk to the store to begin Day 2 of our trip.

Then, the family came over to take pictures and have dinner.

We took some of our own pictures, too.

People have noticed that Leila's flower is a bit bigger than usual. Yes, I thought we should go bigger for the photos!

Getting ready to pose for pictures in my grandparents' backyard...

Leila took the best pictures again

 Happy Family
All of the girls

The night ended early for Leila, but before her bath, she had to try on the outfit that her Nan bought her in town that day.

Cornhusker Pride!

Leila is really starting to enjoy standing up. Here's video 1 and 2 of her standing in her crib Saturday morning.

This past Saturday was spent in Waxahachie with Ryan's family. Ryan decided to try out Uncle Brent's motorcycle while we were there, and Leila really appreciated the helmet.
Here's video 1 and 2 of Ryan riding the motorcycle. I hate to say it, but he looks good on it.

While he rode, she played with her new toy that Aunt Renae bought for her.

Breaking News

We are interrupting our blog schedule of Nebraska events for some current breaking news!

First, Leila is officially 6 months old as of this past Monday! Where has the time gone/!
We were eating dinner at my Aunt Judy and Uncle Mark's place on Monday, before we headed out to drive back home from Nebraska. We were all talking and stopped at once when we heard Leila say, as clear as day... Mama!!
Of course, now she says a lot of ma-ma-ma. But we definitely heard her say mama that first time!

On Wednesday we had our 6-month well-baby visit, and discovered Leila's stats have changed. She now weighs 14 lbs, 7 oz - 25th percentile, and measures 27.25 in - 95th percentile!
We also got the go-ahead to start Leila on solids, so Friday night was the first time Leila has eaten carrots! I have to get the pictures from Rebecca, but here is video 1 and video 2 of the momentous occasion.

Also, we went today and spent some time in Waxahachie with Aumt Renae and Uncle Brent, and Deedee and Grandfather. We have several fun pictures and videos to show, but the breaking news is that, on the way down there, we discovered this...

Look closer
We have a tiny tooth bud!!!

Another Trip

Before we start talking about our Nebraska trip, first I wanted to show you the picture of Danielle and Leila hanging out 2 weeks ago while I worked on cakes. It was slightly chilly in the house, so Danielle took the opportunity for Leila to wear a cardigan for the first time. And, it just happened to be the one Danielle bought for her. Surprise. :)
They spent their time reading books and eating cereal that day.
Here's a video.

Also, here's a video of some noises that Leila was making in her crib. She was supposed to be napping.

Last Thursday, we left for our roadtrip to Nebraska. It's a 13-hour drive, so we thought we'd drive all night, hoping that Leila would sleep the whole way. We were very blessed to find that that is exactly what happened! She woke up to eat 2 times, and she'd fall right back to sleep after having a bottle. It worked really well and we were very please! Unfortunately, it did leave us exhausted the next day, which was scheduled to be completely full, since the whole family was there to celebrate my Grandma Kracht's 80th birthday, and we were all trying to make the most of our time together.

Here is Leila meeting her Great Grandma Kracht.

Then, we changed clothes and got ready for the family to come over for our first dinner together. Leila had been cooped up in her carseat for 13 hours, so she took advantage of being able to sit and play.
She also enjoyed hanging out with my cousin's son Jorden, who is 3 days older than she is. It was so much fun seeing them together!
It was actually quite cold when we arrived, and there are so many of us that we had to put an additional  table outside, so we got to put Leila's cute cardigan to good use again.
I think he liked her bow. :)
